Why building a restaurant based around a theme is not a great Idea in Delhi?
Restaurant business is one of the most happening industries.
Is there anything better than food? Absolutely not!
And place like Delhi is all about that papdi chat.
But being a successful industry, it means a lot of competition. There are dozens of new restaurants opening and closing every day.
Some are not making as profit as they are spending.
Even if they are spending tons on marketing, it is just not helping as it should.
A lot of the restaurants are introducing new food items to satisfy the customer, while some are changing the whole niche.
Although, there are some restaurants that are taking another step — being based around a theme!
Yes, there are some restaurants that are taking a theme and giving it a whole new meaning. Restaurants like Junkyard café and Hogwartz café are built around themes and they are giving more than just taste. They are focusing more on the ambience.
Is it a good idea?
Here are some reasons that states it might sound brilliant but it might not be practical.
1. Maintenance
Maintaining a restaurant that is based around a theme is not easy. You need to get custom utensils, chairs, tables and even menu card might add a lot to the cost.
That is not all, if you are promising to deliver a specific dish, you need to make sure you live up to it.
Maintenance might add a lot of effort and financial stress.
2. Employees
You need employees who are well adjusted to your theme. Firing and hiring new employees can be a tough job.
You need people who are equally passionate about the theme.
Otherwise, the low energy would be visible to the customers, and it might be bad business.
3. Quality of food
Being based around a theme, it doesn’t mean you can compromise with food.
You not only need to give a superior taste but also needs to make sure the dishes go along with the theme. The visual representation of the dishes needs to resonate with the theme of the restaurant.
A lot of times, restaurants focuses too much on the visual representation and forgets about the taste.
4. Audience
Is there an audience for a theme?
A lot of restaurants focuses too much on being bizarre and ends up losing any potential audience.
People will only go to a restaurant if the theme sounds refreshing and trendy. A lot of restaurants start with hope but due to lack of audience for their selected theme, they end up closing down.
5. Location
Believe it or not, location plays a huge role.
If your restaurant is at an inaccessible place, despite having everything superior, it still might not get customers.
People won’t visit a restaurant at a deserted place even if it has brilliant ambience.
In some cases, people might travel great distances but for a restaurant that just started out, they might face trouble.
