Video Games are as artistic as movies and music
Over the last few years, we saw heavy increase in the popularity of online gaming.
Part of it can be pointed at the easier access to internet and its prices dropping to accessible rates.
Some of the most popular games like Mortal Kombat met heavy criticism in its initial run. People complained its violent content and demanded a ban. Several games like Manhunt and Rapelay are demeaning in its core. Not every game believes in portraying gore with a twist of artistic vision; some just gets straight to the business and their offensive nature becomes its secret behind lifelong popularity.
As the field started integrating much more sophisticated methods, video games based around complex story telling is becoming a trope. The game play focuses much more on interactive elements, and not to mention, the multiplayer games are becoming a common thing.
While a lot of parents and guardians are worried on how it is affecting the youth, why do we have a problem to accept it as an artistic escape equivalent of movies and music. Furthermore, here the experience is much more interactive in nature.
Game designing takes as much effort as every other venture.
Gaming industry is quickly evolving and with the rising popularity of AR and VR it would be much more interesting to see the path it would ascend.
